The Oklahoma Sooners, a college football program that has produced more Super Bowl participants than any other team over the past three years, is preparing to send its next wave of players to the NFL.
The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Leading up to the draft, various pro days will be held across the country, including in Norman, along with the NFL Scouting Combine, scheduled for Feb. 24-March 3 in Indianapolis.
Three Sooners—defensive back Billy Bowman, defensive lineman Ethan Downs, and linebacker Danny Stutsman—have received invitations to the NFL Scouting Combine. However, they are not the only OU players hoping for a shot at the league.
Here’s a look at all the Sooners who have publicly declared for the 2025 NFL Draft so far, along with others who could still join them.
Billy Bowman Jr. – DB
Billy Bowman turned heads during the Senior Bowl and has the potential to boost his draft stock even further with his speed at the NFL Scouting Combine.
With 41 career starts, Bowman brings plenty of experience to the table. He earned First-Team All-Big 12 honors in 2023 and was named Third-Team All-SEC last season.
If he continues to impress throughout the pre-draft process, Bowman could hear his name called as early as the third round.
Ethan Downs – DL
Ethan Downs has drawn enough interest from scouts to earn an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine.
A native of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Downs was a three-year starter for the Sooners, accumulating 37 career starts. He earned Second-Team All-Big 12 honors in both 2022 and 2023.
Projected as a Day 2 pick, Downs possesses the size and skill set to develop into a solid NFL starter.
Danny Stutsman – LB
Danny Stutsman had the opportunity to enter the draft last year but chose to return to Oklahoma for the Sooners’ first season in the SEC.
A three-year starter with 37 career starts, Stutsman ranks ninth in OU history with 376 career tackles. He recorded at least 100 tackles in each of his last three seasons, starting every game during that stretch.
Following his senior season, Stutsman was recognized as a consensus All-American and a Butkus Award finalist.
While some projections have him as a potential second-round pick, he is more likely to be selected in the third or fourth round.
