Texas A&M hosted a key group of football prospects on official visits over the weekend, and it didn’t take long for those efforts to pay off. Three-star athlete Kaeden Johnson, out of Fort Bend Marshall, gave his verbal commitment to the Aggies shortly after his visit.
Johnson, who plays quarterback in high school, stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 215 pounds—making him a candidate for multiple positions at the college level. Early indications suggest Texas A&M sees his future at tight end. The recruitment moved fast: the Aggies extended an offer on Wednesday, brought Johnson to campus Thursday, and he committed by Saturday.

Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Johnson is the No. 989 overall recruit in the nation, the No. 59 quarterback, and the No. 150 player in Texas. While he may not be expected to contribute right away, his size and athletic potential make him an intriguing addition to the roster.
With Johnson on board, Texas A&M now holds the No. 6 recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports. Head coach Mike Elko is aiming to land a second consecutive top-10 class as he continues to build the program in College Station.
