BREAKING NEWS: Kalen DeBoer And Alabama Submitted An Irresistible Contract Offer To Popular In-state 2027 QB.

Although Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama coaching staff have yet to secure a quarterback for their 2026 recruiting class, they’re already turning their attention to 2027, working to identify their top target early.

One name to watch is 4-star Trent Seaborn, a standout high school quarterback from Alabama. A rising junior, Seaborn has been starting for Thompson High School in Alabaster since eighth grade. He’s already led the team to two state titles and has amassed 6,453 passing yards and 68 touchdowns—numbers that could make him one of the most accomplished players in Alabama high school football history.

Seaborn originally received an offer from Alabama during Nick Saban’s tenure. On Friday, the new DeBoer-led staff extended a re-offer, making Seaborn the third quarterback in the 2027 class to get an Alabama offer under the current regime.

It’s a big one for Seaborn, who’s been anticipating a renewed offer. He’s among the most recruited quarterbacks in his class, currently holding 33 offers from major programs including Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Florida State, and Tennessee.

Joining Seaborn in the 2027 quarterback offer list for Alabama are fellow 4-stars Trae Taylor and Colton Nussmeier.

Still, Alabama’s ultimate approach to 2027 recruiting could depend heavily on how things unfold in the 2026 cycle. The Tide has yet to land a QB for 2026 and are actively targeting Jett Thomalla, Matt Ponatoski, and newcomer Tayden Kaawa.

Ideally, Alabama hopes to sign two quarterbacks this cycle, given they currently have only three on the roster—and possibly just one by next season.

Thomalla is an Iowa State commit but may be considering an official visit to Alabama. Ponatoski is a unique case—he plans to play both football and baseball in college, but could opt for professional baseball depending on his selection in the 2026 MLB Draft.

If the Tide ends up signing only one QB in 2026, they could double down in 2027. Another intriguing in-state option is 4-star Gunner Rivers, son of NFL great Philip Rivers. While he hasn’t received an offer from Alabama yet, that could soon change.

DeBoer, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, and quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan have shown strong QB evaluation skills—having identified Keelon Russell early in the previous cycle, long before he rose to become the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 class.
