Arkansas’ Wehiwa Aloy has been named the 2025 SEC Baseball Player of the Year.
Aloy becomes just the second player in Razorback history to receive the honor, joining Andrew Benintendi (2015). He’s one of five Arkansas players to earn All-SEC recognition from the league’s 16 head coaches. The Razorbacks led the conference with four First Team All-SEC selections: Wehiwa Aloy, Kuhio Aloy, Charles Davalan, and Zach Root. Cam Kozeal was named to the Second Team, rounding out Arkansas’ SEC honorees.
The four first-team selections are the most Arkansas has ever had in a single season. It also marks the third straight year an Arkansas starting pitcher has earned first-team honors—something no team has done since LSU’s streak from 2012 to 2015.
Wehiwa Aloy, whose name means “The Prized One,” has been one of the most dynamic players in college baseball this year. In 55 games, the junior shortstop from Wailuku, Hawaii, has a team-best slash line of .358/.440/.677, along with 18 home runs (tied for ninth-most in a single season at Arkansas) and 58 RBIs. He leads the SEC in both hits (82) and runs scored (72).
He’s putting together one of the best offensive seasons in program history, topping the team in nearly every key category: batting average (.358), slugging (.677), OPS (1.117), runs (72), hits (82), doubles (17), home runs (18), and extra-base hits (36). Defensively, he’s been steady as well, committing only four errors in 192 chances for a .979 fielding percentage.
His younger brother, Kuhio Aloy, also earned First Team All-SEC honors as a designated hitter in his first year with Arkansas after transferring from BYU. The sophomore is hitting .345/.429/.607 with 13 home runs and a team-high 68 RBIs, just three shy of entering the program’s top 10 single-season list.
Outfielder Charles Davalan, a transfer from FGCU and a sophomore from Montreal, has also shined. Matching Wehiwa Aloy’s 82 hits, he’s batting .353/.433/.578 with 13 homers and 54 RBIs in 55 games, quickly establishing himself as one of the nation’s best leadoff hitters.
Zach Root, a junior left-hander and transfer from ECU, was named First Team All-SEC as a starting pitcher. He has a 6-4 record, a 4.14 ERA, and a team-leading 102 strikeouts across 75.2 innings, with five quality starts and two SEC Pitcher of the Week honors.
Cam Kozeal, a sophomore first baseman from Omaha who started his college career at Vanderbilt, earned Second Team All-SEC recognition. In his first season with the Razorbacks, he’s slashing .335/.382/.598 with 12 home runs and 55 RBIs—41 of those coming in SEC play, the most in the conference.
