The Florida men’s basketball team is aiming to secure consecutive national championships for the second time in the past 20 years, and they’re investing heavily to achieve that goal.
On Tuesday, former Arkansas guard Boogie Fland announced his transfer to Florida.
Fland will team up with fellow transfer Xaivian Lee to form what is expected to be one of the nation’s premier backcourts heading into the 2025-26 season.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, Florida landed Fland with a massive NIL deal reportedly exceeding \$2 million.
Fland, a former five-star recruit from Archbishop Stepinac in White Plains, N.Y., originally committed to Kentucky before following coach John Calipari to Arkansas.
Florida’s backcourt was depleted with the departures of Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard, all of whom exhausted their eligibility, while Denzel Aberdeen transferred to Kentucky. The Gators have now made a significant move to fill that void.
In his freshman season at Arkansas, Fland averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.2 rebounds over 21 games. Though he briefly declared for the NBA Draft, he withdrew his name last week.
Fland shot 37.9% from the field last season and will look to improve that efficiency at Florida. The sizable NIL investment suggests head coach Todd Golden and the Gators have strong faith in his potential.
