Four-star linebacker from Bryant announced his commitment to Oklahoma football on Thursday evening.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 195 pounds, Smith spent his junior year at Little Rock Parkview before transferring to the Hornets.
He picked the Sooners over a host of top programs, including Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, UCF, and others.
He played a key role in helping the Patriots capture their third straight Class 5A state championship last season. According to On3.com’s industry rankings, he is rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 25 linebacker nationally.
In Norman, he’ll reunite with his former Parkview teammate, freshman defensive back Omarion Robinson.
Arkansas lost its first commitment from the 2026 recruiting class late Tuesday night when three-star athlete Jack Duckworth announced his decision to decommit via a post on his X account.
Last season, Duckworth totaled 718 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns while primarily playing wide receiver. On defense, he added one interception during his junior year. His primary recruiters at the time were former defensive backs coach Deron Wilson and current co-defensive coordinator Marcus Woodson.
As a sophomore, Duckworth emerged as one of Texas’ top defensive players, tallying 14 pass breakups, a sack, and an interception.
“After thoughtful consideration and conversations with my family, I’ve decided to reopen my recruitment,” Duckworth wrote. “I have tremendous respect for the Arkansas coaching staff and the opportunities they’ve given me, but I believe it’s best for me to explore all my options.”
Recently, Duckworth has drawn interest from programs like UNLV, Memphis, Sam Houston State, and Stanford—possibly contributing to his decision to re-evaluate his college future.
Despite his decommitment, he had been scheduled to make an official visit to Arkansas on June 6, though it’s unclear if that visit will still happen. Duckworth was the Razorbacks’ lowest-ranked 2026 commit, rated No. 1,120 overall, No. 101 among cornerbacks, and No. 158 in Texas, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
