The White Sox announced Monday that infielder will start a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights on Tuesday.
The 30, has been sidelined since March 27 due to a hairline fracture in his right big toe. He signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with Chicago in January.
Before the injury, he appeared in 11 spring training games for the White Sox, collecting 10 hits, six runs, two doubles, two RBIs, two walks, and six strikeouts over 32 at-bats. He posted a .313 batting average and a .759 OPS during that stretch.
Once healthy, Rojas could offer the White Sox valuable versatility. Over his six-year major league career, he’s made 282 appearances at third base but has also logged at least 43 games at second base, shortstop, and in both corner outfield spots.
In 2024 with the Mariners, Rojas posted a 2.2 WAR season, hitting eight home runs, driving in 31 runs, stealing 10 bases, and finishing with a .225 batting average and a .641 OPS. His standout campaign came with the Diamondbacks in 2022, when he tallied nine homers, 56 RBIs, 23 stolen bases, and a 3.1 WAR while hitting .269 with a .739 OPS over 510 at-bats.
The White Sox, currently enjoying an off-day Monday, will kick off a six-game homestand Tuesday night against the Brewers at Rate Field, with first pitch set for 6:40 p.m. CT.
