South Carolina has added a familiar name to its roster with the signing of an edge rusher from the transfer portal.
Demon Clowney, cousin of Gamecock legend and former No. 1 NFL Draft pick Jadeveon Clowney, is officially joining the program, per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer. Jadeveon, now with the Carolina Panthers, made a name for himself at South Carolina over a decade ago by wreaking havoc on opposing offenses. Now, his younger cousin is set to follow in his footsteps—at least in uniform.
Demon Clowney’s path to Columbia has been anything but straightforward. He began his college career at Ole Miss as part of the 2020 recruiting class, spending three seasons there and recording 10 tackles and three tackles for loss.
He later transferred to Charlotte, reuniting with his former high school coach Biff Poggi, and played two seasons. In 2023, he tallied 33 tackles and four TFLs, followed by 26 tackles and six TFLs in 2024.
Clowney then briefly joined Louisville via the transfer portal, but re-entered just a few months later. Now, he’s landed at South Carolina to finish his college career.
While he hasn’t made the same waves as his cousin, Demon Clowney heads to Columbia hoping to build on a solid stint at Charlotte and make an impact in his final season.
