The Tennessee Titans selected former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. After a difficult previous season, the team is hopeful Ward can become their long-term solution at quarterback. His professional journey officially kicked off on Wednesday when he signed his first NFL contract.
According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, Ward inked a fully guaranteed four-year deal worth $48.75 million, including a $32.1 million signing bonus.

The fully guaranteed nature of the contract underscores how committed the Titans are to Ward. Despite exploring all options during the draft process, the organization was won over by the 23-year-old’s skillset, leadership, and confidence.
Ward’s path to the NFL is unconventional. He wasn’t rated as a recruit out of high school and only received a single offer—from Incarnate Word, where he played two seasons. He later transferred to Washington State and spent two more years there, showing flashes of his playmaking potential and helping the Cougars remain competitive.
Although Ward initially considered entering the 2024 NFL Draft, early projections placed him in the middle rounds. He instead chose to transfer to the University of Miami, a move that significantly boosted his stock.
In his lone season with the Hurricanes, Ward threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns with a 67.2% completion rate, breaking Miami’s single-season records for both passing yards and touchdowns. He also led all FBS quarterbacks in passing touchdowns.
Despite being the No. 1 overall pick and signing a major contract, Ward has not yet been named the starting quarterback. Head coach Brian Callahan is keeping the competition open, with Will Levis also vying for the job during offseason training. Still, Ward is widely seen as the franchise’s quarterback of the future.
