BREAKING: Miami’ Mario Cristobal Lands 3-Star 2026 Edge Rusher Over Other Programs.

According to On3, Miami landed three-star edge rusher  out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. He announced via social media that he will reveal his college commitment on July 4, with On3 giving the Hurricanes a 69.8% chance to land him.

If he commits, he would join fellow Bishop Gorman products already at Miami, including sophomore tight end Elija Lofton and freshman offensive lineman Seuseu Alofaituli. Former Hurricanes such as safety Bubba Bolden, tight end Brevin Jordan, and quarterback Tate Martell also hail from the powerhouse Nevada program.

The On3 Industry Rankings place Williams as the No. 541 overall prospect in the 2026 class, the 57th-ranked edge rusher, and the third-best player in the state of Nevada. Over his high school career, he’s tallied 174 total tackles, 54 tackles for loss, 21 sacks, six forced fumbles, one recovery, and a pass breakup.

Williams also listed Arizona, BYU, Utah, and Wisconsin among his top schools on social media. Of those, Utah holds a 5.6% chance of landing him, with Arizona at 4.8%, while no predictions are currently available for BYU or Wisconsin.

Though no official visits are posted on Williams’ 247Sports or On3 profiles, he did take an unofficial visit to Miami during the weekend of March 18. With his decision coming in early July, expect June to be packed with campus visits.

Miami’s 2026 recruiting class currently ranks 11th nationally on On3, featuring nine commits — five on offense and four on defense. Notably, none are defensive linemen, a position that will need reinforcements after the 2025 season.

Star edge rusher Akheem Mesidor is entering his final year of eligibility, and Rueben Bain is widely projected as a 2026 first-round NFL Draft pick, meaning he’s likely to leave early. The Hurricanes do have a promising group of young edge rushers ready to step up, but landing Williams would further strengthen the future of the position.
