Just a few weeks after being selected sixth overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, former Kentucky standout has hit an early hurdle in her pro career. The Washington Mystics announced Tuesday that the rookie guard suffered an ACL injury in her right knee during practice.
The 23-year-old went down during just the team’s second official workout of the season, which followed Media Day on Monday. While the Mystics confirmed the ACL injury in a press release, they did not reveal whether it was a full or partial tear.
“The team and Amoore will explore treatment and rehab options and share updates when available,” the statement read.
This injury raises concerns about Amoore’s status for the upcoming season—a tough blow for the franchise and fans who were excited about the fiery Australian guard’s potential. However, with no details yet on the extent of the damage, there remains a slight chance that the injury may not be season-ending. If it is more severe, Amoore would still have ample time to recover before the 2026 preseason.
Amoore had an outstanding 2024–25 season at Kentucky, putting up 19.6 points and 6.9 assists per game while leading the Wildcats to their first NCAA Tournament win in four years. She earned All-American honors and became Kentucky’s first WNBA first-round draft pick since Rhyne Howard in 2022.
