The Green Bay Packers are reportedly poised to make a bold move this offseason to secure a true No. 1 wide receiver for quarterback Jordan Love. In a potential break from their usual draft approach, the team could target a receiver in the first round on Thursday night.
One scenario gaining traction involves a possible trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for wideout George Pickens. According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Packers are “serious” about pursuing Pickens—who recently unfollowed the Steelers on social media, fueling speculation.

“It’s not really their style to invest heavily in two wide receivers,” an AFC general manager said. “Pickens is more obtainable than most assume. Green Bay is definitely interested—and they’re not the only team keeping tabs.”
However, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com downplayed the trade rumors, stating that Pittsburgh isn’t actively looking to move Pickens. He noted that while the Steelers have fielded multiple inquiries, their intention remains to keep him—ideally pairing him with DK Metcalf, not replacing him.
A high price for George Pickens
Farabaugh added that although the Steelers aren’t planning to offer Pickens an extension this offseason, they aren’t eager to part ways with him either. It would take a substantial offer—at least an early third-rounder, possibly a second-round pick—for Pittsburgh to consider a deal.
Pickens, a former Georgia Bulldog, has totaled 174 receptions for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career so far. He broke the 1,100-yard mark in 2023 but dipped slightly to 900 yards and three scores in 2024. While the 24-year-old is undeniably talented, there have been concerns about his attitude and locker-room presence.
