The Washington Commanders aren’t just fortunate to have one of the NFL’s top wide receivers in Terry McLaurin — they also have one of the most respected leaders in the league. Unlike many WR1s known for flashy personalities, McLaurin leads with humility and professionalism.
But even a player of his caliber needs a strong supporting cast.
This offseason, Washington took a big swing by acquiring All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers. While Samuel’s exact role in the Commanders’ offense is still unclear due to his versatility, his presence adds another dynamic playmaker to the roster.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Commanders are predicted to use their second-round pick (No. 61 overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft to grab TCU wide receiver Jack Bech — a move aimed at securing a long-term WR2. PFF notes that Bech has the size, athleticism, and reliable hands to become a consistent weapon alongside McLaurin: “Washington gives Jayden Daniels another weapon in Jack Bech, who could become the WR2 the Commanders have been missing. Bech showed strong hands with just one drop last season and only four in his college career.”
Washington has just five picks in the 2025 draft after trading several selections to acquire veterans like Samuel, offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, and cornerback Marshon Lattimore — moves signaling the franchise is all-in on contending for a Super Bowl this season.
Jack Bech had a standout final college season after transferring from LSU to TCU in 2023. At LSU, he tallied 59 catches for 689 yards and four touchdowns. In 2024, Bech broke out with 62 receptions, 1,034 yards, and nine touchdowns over 12 games, earning All-Big 12 honors. He capped his college career with six catches, 68 yards, and the game-winning touchdown in the Senior Bowl — earning MVP honors.
Bech also showed incredible strength off the field, playing through heartbreak after the tragic death of his older brother, Tiger Bech, in a New Year’s Day truck attack in New Orleans. Tiger, 27, was a former All-Ivy League kick returner at Princeton. Jack honored his brother on social media, writing, “Love you always brother… I got this family T, don’t worry. This is for us.”
Bleacher Report’s Dame Parson compared Bech to Rams star Puka Nacua, calling him a “power slot” receiver capable of handling the tough, middle-of-the-field routes that keep offenses humming. “Bech can become the glue guy for an NFL passing game,” Parson wrote.
If the Commanders select Bech, they could be locking in a crucial piece for both their present and future offensive success.
