After assessing the roster and seeing several standout performances during Texas A&M’s Maroon and White spring game earlier today, the Aggies made a significant move in their offseason recruiting efforts. Head coach Mike Elko and his staff announced that top-tier cornerback has flipped his commitment from Illinois to Texas A&M. Standing at 6-foot and weighing 165 pounds, Singleton fills a critical need at cornerback—a position where the Aggies have lacked depth in recent seasons.
Originally from Toledo, Ohio, he had been committed to Illinois since early February but decided to change course after making several visits to College Station. The highly-rated four-star prospect is ranked as the No. 5 cornerback and No. 57 overall player in the 2026 class, and he holds the top spot among recruits in Ohio. Singleton received 29 scholarship offers in total and ultimately picked the Aggies over top programs like Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Illinois, and Oregon.
With Singleton’s commitment, Elko’s 2026 class now features ten verbal pledges. The addition further strengthens an already promising recruiting class, which currently ranks fifth nationally and includes top talents like five-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory and four-star running back Jonathan Hatton Jr.
