McCarthy, the former Michigan Wolverines standout. Selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, McCarthy is clearly viewed by the franchise as their long-term solution at quarterback. In that effort, Minnesota appears interested in reuniting McCarthy with a familiar face from his college days. According to Ian Rapoport, via TheWolverine.com, the Vikings are bringing in Michigan running back Kalel Mullings for a top 30 visit. Mullings, who would slot in behind veteran Aaron Jones, could provide valuable depth and help manage Jones’ workload.
During the 2024 season at Michigan, Mullings rushed for 948 yards and 12 touchdowns on 185 carries, averaging a solid 5.1 yards per attempt. He added six receptions for 35 yards. While he’s not expected to be an early-round selection, Mullings could be a smart pickup for Minnesota in the later rounds—possibly the fifth or sixth—especially as a familiar and comforting presence for McCarthy.
