BREAKING: Los Angeles Rams To Land Heir Apparent to Matthew Stafford Got Fans Buzzing.

Matthew Stafford has long been considered one of the most overlooked quarterbacks in the NFL. As he heads into the 2025 season with the Los Angeles Rams, his impressive career appears to be nearing its final chapters. Earlier in the offseason, there was uncertainty about whether Stafford would return to the Rams, with rumors swirling about a possible trade. However, he ultimately agreed to a restructured contract to stay with the team.

Despite Stafford’s return, Rams head coach Sean McVay and the front office must begin planning for the future, as the veteran QB is now 37 years old. In light of that, a new prediction suggests the Rams may have found a potential successor. Bill Bender of The Sporting News projects that Los Angeles could select Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in the fourth round with the 127th overall pick.

Jalen Milroe gets NFL draft invitation. Will he be first-round pick?

“Former NFL GM Mike Mayock believes Milroe (6-2, 217) would be a great fit for the Rams, and we agree,” Bender wrote. “Stafford’s restructured deal signals a short-term commitment, and selecting a QB early in the draft might send mixed signals—something we saw with Atlanta in 2024. Milroe showed flashes of talent during his time with Alabama, particularly as a runner with 20 rushing touchdowns, though turnovers were an issue in their four losses. Still, he won the Campbell Trophy—also known as the ‘Academic Heisman’—which highlights his strong intangibles. This could be a smart value pick for Sean McVay.”

Milroe’s 2024 stats weren’t eye-popping, as he completed 64.3% of his passes for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. On the ground, however, he was a serious threat, racking up 726 yards and 20 touchdowns. If the Rams bring him in and give him time to develop, Milroe could eventually become their franchise quarterback.
