The second round of the WNBA Draft turned into a spotlight moment for the University of South Carolina, as three of the four picks came from players coached by Dawn Staley. Te-Hina Paopao was the first Gamecock selected, going 18th overall to the Atlanta Dream. After Florida State’s Makayla Timpson went next, two more former Gamecocks were picked back-to-back. Bree Hall, a guard from South Carolina, was taken 19th overall by the Indiana Fever, followed immediately by forward Sania Feagin.
Hall’s selection made headlines, especially for her upcoming reunion with former college teammate Aliyah Boston. Boston, who played 138 games for the Gamecocks, reacted emotionally on X, writing, “BIG BREEZY REUNION I’m literally crying rn.”
Hall also had a four-year career at South Carolina, appearing in 146 games. She didn’t become a starter until her junior year, when she averaged 9.2 points per game. During the 2024-25 season, which ended with South Carolina reaching the NCAA title game, she shot 38.9% from beyond the arc.
Hall now joins a stacked Indiana Fever roster featuring Boston, recent No. 1 pick Caitlin Clark, and veterans like Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull, and DeWanna Bonner. The Fever’s first preseason game is set for May 3, with their regular season opener at home against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
