The Kansas City Royals are taking a hit to their bullpen as one of their standout relievers is heading to the injured list.
On Friday, the Royals announced that right-hander has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a right teres major strain. The move is retroactive to April 8.
Harvey had been off to a strong start in 2025, posting a 0.00 ERA with 7 strikeouts over 5.1 innings in six appearances. Kansas City acquired him in a trade with the Washington Nationals during the second half of last season. He also dealt with injuries during his 2024 campaign.
In a corresponding roster move, the Royals recalled right-handed pitcher Steven Cruz from Triple-A Omaha.

Cruz pitched in five games for the Royals in 2024, allowing no runs during outings between August 29 and September 21.
Kansas City kicks off a 10-game road trip on Friday, beginning with a three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians.
