BREAKING: Kalen DeBoer Shares What He’s Looking For At QB Left Fans Buzzing.

Happy Friday! Tomorrow marks a revamped version of what was once called A-Day, and all eyes will be on the quarterbacks. Head coach Kalen DeBoer made it clear—he’s not interested in someone who’s just average.

“We want a playmaker,” DeBoer said. “I’m not looking for someone who just manages the game. If we want to compete at the highest level, we need a quarterback who can create big plays. Of course, he also has to avoid costly mistakes—especially in critical situations like the red zone, or late in games and halves.”

To ensure Alabama’s quarterbacks are up to the task, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan are heavily involved in their development.

“Nick Sheridan and Ryan Grubb are doing a fantastic job working together and guiding our quarterbacks,” DeBoer added.

Meanwhile, Super Senior Jah-Marien Latham is getting teased about his age.

“Last year I was already one of the older guys,” Latham said. “Now I feel like an uncle compared to all the young players. But honestly, it motivates me. I know they’re watching me and learning from how I carry myself. I just try to set the right example.”

Latham said the age jokes are coming from all directions—including outside linebackers coach Christian Robinson, who’s actually older than him. But defensive lineman Tim Keenan, another team vet, said he wasn’t joining in.

“No way—if he’s ‘Paw Paw,’ then I’m ‘Unc,’” Keenan joked. “That’s just how it is. But yeah, he’s definitely Paw Paw.”
