One of Auburn’s all-time greats has officially wrapped up his college journey and is saying goodbye to his team, coaches, and the passionate Auburn fanbase. Fifth-year senior Johni Broome helped guide the Tigers to a Final Four this season and secured the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament—a run that fans won’t soon forget.
Broome began his collegiate career with two seasons at Morehead State before transferring to Auburn, where he spent his final three years making a major impact. During his time on The Plains, Auburn was a consistent top-25 team and even held the No. 1 ranking longer than any other program during the 2024–2025 season. While a national championship eluded him, Broome still leaves with an SEC regular season title and an SEC Tournament crown to his name.

Johni Broome shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing his gratitude to everyone who played a role in his journey. He gave a special thanks to his family and friends, but also made it a point to acknowledge all those who supported him throughout his college career.
He started by recognizing the people at Morehead State, crediting them with helping shape him into the player who was ready to take the next step at a program like Auburn. Once at Auburn, Broome expressed his appreciation for the warm embrace from the community and the unwavering support from fans.
“To the fans – thank you for packing The Jungle night after night and making Auburn truly feel like home,” he wrote.
Broome’s incredible Auburn run came to an end with a Final Four loss to eventual national champion Florida. In his final season, he averaged 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game, while earning the Pete Newell Big Man of the Year Award, the Karl Malone Award, and his second All-SEC First Team selection.
