Remember when the Baylor Bears came to Provo this past January? In the closing minutes of a tight game, freshman point guard Rob Wright III took over, scoring Baylor’s final 14 points in the last five minutes to push the game into overtime against BYU.
While much of the spotlight during Baylor’s otherwise disappointing season was on VJ Edgecombe, those familiar with Scott Drew’s program recognized that Wright was a rising star at the point.
So when Wright entered the transfer portal on Monday, he quickly became one of the most in-demand players available.

BYU didn’t waste any time and has emerged as a frontrunner to land the talented sophomore. According to recent speculation, Wright is expected to suit up in Cougar blue next season, potentially joining forces with Kevin Young, AJ Dybantsa, and the rest of BYU’s squad for the 2025–26 campaign.
