Julio Jones, the legendary wide receiver from Alabama and the NFL, officially announced his retirement from football on Friday, closing the book on a remarkable career that spanned over a decade.
Best known for his time with the Atlanta Falcons, Jones also had stints with the Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Philadelphia Eagles. He wrapped up his NFL career with seven Pro Bowl selections and totaled 13,703 receiving yards—ranking 16th in league history—on 914 catches with 66 touchdowns.
At Alabama, Jones made an immediate impact and was the team’s top receiver during his sophomore season, playing a pivotal role in the Crimson Tide’s 2009 National Championship—the first under head coach Nick Saban. He cemented his place in school history the following year by nearly doubling his production across the board, paving the way for his selection as the sixth overall pick by the Falcons in the 2011 NFL Draft.
