Dawn Staley has become a prominent figure in women’s basketball in recent years. As the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks, she has enjoyed tremendous success since taking the role in the 2008-09 season, following her time as head coach of the Temple Owls. Staley boasts an impressive 646-189 coaching record, which translates to a 77.4% winning percentage. Specifically with the Gamecocks, her record stands at 474-109, equating to an 81.3% win rate. She has also led South Carolina to three NCAA championships.

Recently, WNBA legend Lisa Leslie shared her thoughts on Staley, describing the coach in just three words during an appearance on the “Good Follow Show.” Leslie, who was a teammate of Staley on the USA Olympic team, described Staley as loyal, trustworthy, and authentic. Leslie explained, “Loyalty is probably number one. Trust is number two. And just authentic,” adding that these qualities have been significant in their friendship since they were both 16. She noted that their shared work ethic, loyalty, and commitment to improving others makes Staley’s influence contagious.
