South Carolina experienced an unexpected transfer-portal development on Thursday. As the Gamecocks were in the midst of their seventh spring practice, On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett reported that edge rusher intends to enter the transfer portal. He responded to the report with a brief statement: “God’s timing.”
The timing of his decision is unusual. South Carolina still has six spring practices remaining, along with the Garnet & Black Spring Game on April 18. Additionally, the transfer portal does not officially open until April 16. Gregory had the option to complete spring practice before making his move, but he chose to announce his plans early.
A former four-star prospect from Georgia, appeared in two games as a true freshman last season. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound athlete played linebacker in high school but transitioned to the edge position upon arriving at South Carolina.
