Lamont Paris continues to reshape the South Carolina basketball roster through the transfer portal.
On Wednesday, the Gamecocks secured a commitment from USF transfer Kobe Knox, who will continue his college career in Columbia. Knox, the brother of Arkansas’ Karter Knox and Golden State Warriors’ Kevin Knox, made the announcement via social media.
Knox had a strong redshirt junior season, playing in 30 games and starting 22. He posted career-best scoring numbers with 324 points, averaging 10.8 points per game. In addition, he contributed 92 rebounds, 48 assists, and 34 steals.
As a redshirt sophomore, Knox had 12 games with double-digit points and finished the 2023-24 season with 277 points, 97 rebounds, 51 assists, and 18 steals, starting all 33 games.
This marks Knox’s second transfer, having started his career at Grand Canyon, where he redshirted in 2021-22 and played in the 2022-23 season.
After a disappointing 2024-25 season in which South Carolina missed the NCAA Tournament and turned down an automatic NIT bid from the SEC, Paris and his staff have been active in the transfer portal. The Gamecocks have also added center Christ Essandoko from Providence and guards Treysen Eaglestaff (North Dakota) and Meechie Johnson Jr. (Ohio State).
