A report claims that an SEC program has offered South Carolina’s Collin Murray-Boyles $2.5 million to transfer for next season.
The South Carolina Gamecocks’ men’s basketball season came to an end a few weeks ago following a first-round exit in the SEC tournament. Although the team received an invitation to the NIT, head coach Lamont Paris and his squad opted to decline, shifting their focus to next season instead.
One of South Carolina’s standout performers this past season was forward Collin Murray-Boyles. He averaged 16.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 58.6% from the field. While NBA teams have taken notice of his talent, at least one SEC school is reportedly making a strong push to lure him away for the 2025 season.
“There’s a school in the SEC that was in the tournament that offered Collin Murray-Boyles $2.5M to play for them next year,” tweeted SEC Network’s Peter Burns.

Murray-Boyles is currently projected as a lottery pick in this year’s NBA Draft, though he has yet to officially declare. Given his draft stock, he appears likely to make the jump to the professional level, but there remains a possibility that he could return to college—potentially with a different program.
South Carolina has already been active in the transfer portal, making key roster moves for next season. If the Gamecocks were somehow able to convince Murray-Boyles to stay for another year, it would be a significant boost for the program as they look to bounce back from a disappointing season in 2025.
