For various reasons, Ohio State wide receiver senior season largely went unnoticed. Despite being a three-year starter and recording 81 receptions for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns, his contributions were often overshadowed by other key figures in the Buckeyes’ national championship run, such as Ryan Day, Chip Kelly, Jeremiah Smith, Quinshon Judkins, TreVeyon Henderson, Will Howard, Jack Sawyer, Cody Simon, and J.T. Tuimoloau.
However, he is no longer flying under the radar. After opting out of drills at the NFL Scouting Combine, he made a strong impression at Ohio State’s Pro Day, solidifying his position as one of the top wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft class.
“Ohio State wide receiver ran a 4.48-second 40-yard dash at his pro day. He also jumped 38 inches in the vertical. With quickness being a main factor in his upfield burst, his 40 time was solid,” ESPN’s Jordan Reid reported. “As a late-first-round or early-second-round pick, Egbuka is one of the cleanest projections in this year’s receiver class. He projects as a high-end No. 2 receiver and would fit well with the Texans (No. 25) or Rams (No. 26) in Round 1.”
If Reid’s projection holds, Egbuka would be an ideal fit for either Houston or Los Angeles, as both teams lost key receivers this offseason—Stefon Diggs signed with New England, while Cooper Kupp joined Seattle after his release from the Rams.
Slotted behind either Nico Collins in Houston or Puka Nacua in Los Angeles, Egbuka could step into a critical role right away, contributing to a team with its sights set on a Super Bowl 60 appearance.
