The Los Angeles Rams have the flexibility to adopt a best-player-available strategy for the 2025 draft, but they could still strengthen their roster through free agency. Despite already signing Davante Adams, adding six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen could be a smart move.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox listed the Rams as a “best fit” for Allen.
“Even if Allen isn’t the perennial Pro Bowler he once was, he remains a smart, experienced receiver with excellent route-running and reliable hands,” Knox wrote on March 23.
“Allen would be a great fit for the Rams, who replaced Cooper Kupp with Davante Adams but also lost Demarcus Robinson in free agency. His ability to create separation in the secondary would complement Sean McVay’s offense, and he’d be an outstanding red-zone target for Matthew Stafford.”
Allen recorded 70 receptions for 744 yards and 7 touchdowns with the Chicago Bears in 2024. His season got off to a slow start, totaling 30 catches for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns in the first eight games. However, he turned things around with a strong stretch from Weeks 12 to 16, posting 32 receptions for 412 yards and 5 touchdowns, before finishing quietly.
Allen made six Pro Bowl appearances during his time with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Now 33 years old, Allen remains a free agent as his birthday approaches in April, and he has a history of soft-tissue injuries.
Keenan Allen Eyeing West Coast Return
Allen spent the first 11 years of his career with the Chargers, and the Greensboro, North Carolina native played his college football at California. Reflecting this West Coast connection, Allen stated that in 2025 he’s either headed back to LA or staying with the Bears.
“It’s Chicago or I’m back to LA,” he told former Bears teammate Marcedes Lewis and David Kaplan on “The Big Dog Show” in November 2024. “We’re not going to another team.”
Knox pointed out that Allen’s lackluster season occurred within an offense that was similarly average overall. Despite this, Allen was a Pro Bowler in 2023, putting up a 108-1243-7 line with the Chargers. With career earnings of $132.9 million, he might be open to taking some pay cuts if it means a better chance at winning a championship. Over his 12-year career, Allen has appeared in three playoff campaigns, holding a 2-3 record, with his most recent postseason run coming in 2022 with the Chargers.
