New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced that the team has signed defenseman Jackson Dorrington to a three-year, entry-level contract. For the remainder of the season, Dorrington will join the Hartford Wolf Pack on an amateur tryout (ATO).
Dorrington, 20, recorded two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 37 games with Northeastern University (Hockey East) this past season, ranking tied for fifth on the team in assists.
Over three collegiate seasons, the North Reading, Massachusetts native amassed eight goals and 25 assists for 33 points in 105 games, earning a plus-17 rating. The 6-foot-2, 192-pound defenseman appeared in 33 games during the 2023-24 season, leading all Northeastern blueliners with six goals and earning the team’s Unsung Hero award.
Before his college career, Dorrington played for the USHL’s Des Moines Buccaneers, tallying 11 points (3G, 8A) in 41 games. He was also named a 2022 BioSteel All-American.
Originally selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, Dorrington’s rights were acquired by the Rangers on January 31, 2025.
