BREAKING: Troubling Boston Red Sox news On Contract Talks With Young Star.

The Boston Red Sox took an aggressive approach this offseason to strengthen their roster, positioning themselves as one of the top teams heading into Opening Day. However, their attempts to secure Garrett Crochet as a long-term piece of the roster seem to be facing challenges.

The 25-year-old left-hander was acquired by Boston in a December trade that involved multiple top prospects, including Kyle Teel and Braden Montgomery. The front office made a significant push to bolster the team’s chances of contending this season, but Crochet’s acquisition came at a steep price, largely due to his contract.

A 2024 All-Star and the reigning AL Comeback Player of the Year, Garrett Crochet remains under team control for two more seasons and is expected to lead the Red Sox rotation during that time. Boston is actively working to secure him with a contract extension, but talks have not been progressing well.

As reported by Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, Crochet is unlikely to agree to an extension before Opening Day, as there remains a “significant gap” between the two sides in negotiations.
