The veteran left-hander was released on Sunday and is now a free agent after recording 10 strikeouts over 7⅔ innings this spring.
Pomeranz, 36, signed a minor league deal with Seattle in November in an attempt to revive his career. He last pitched in the majors in 2021 due to injuries but logged nine innings in 2024 with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate.
He previously spent three seasons with the Red Sox, including their record-setting 108-win campaign in 2018 that led to a World Series title, though he did not pitch in the postseason.
After a rough start with the San Francisco Giants in 2019, Pomeranz was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, where he turned things around with a 2.39 ERA and an impressive 45% strikeout rate over 25 games.
He later signed a four-year deal with the San Diego Padres before the 2020 season but was limited to just 47 appearances and missed all of 2022 due to injury.
It remains uncertain whether the 11-year veteran will draw interest from teams moving forward.
