Free-agent linebacker who previously played under Mike Vrabel in Tennessee, is visiting the Patriots in Foxborough today, according to a league source.
He spent two seasons with the Titans, starting 18 games—many of them in 2023 while Vrabel was head coach. The former Abilene Christian and Minnesota standout is recovering from an ankle injury that cut short his 2024 season and required surgery in November. The Patriots will evaluate his recovery progress during the visit.
Before his injury in Week 11, Gibbens was making an impact on the field. In Week 8 against New England, he recorded 14 tackles, followed by a 15-tackle performance against the LA Rams the next week.
The Patriots have already strengthened their linebacker corps by adding Robert Spillane and Harold Landry, both of whom also played for Vrabel and defensive coordinator Terrell Williams in Tennessee. The current roster also includes linebackers Ja’Whaun Bentley, Jahlani Tavai, and Christian Elliss.
