The Baltimore Ravens have signed veteran quarterback Cooper Rush to a two-year contract valued at up to $12.2 million, with $4.2 million guaranteed. This agreement positions Rush as the primary backup to two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. Over his career, Rush has appeared in 38 games since debuting with the Dallas Cowboys in 2017, starting eight games during Dak Prescott’s injury in the 2024 season. In those starts, he achieved a 4-4 record, throwing for 2,958 yards with 18 touchdowns and eight interception.
Josh Johnson, who served as Jackson’s backup last season, attempted just three passes and is now an unrestricted free agent.
The Ravens also have Devin Leary, a sixth-round draft pick from the previous year, on their roster.
The addition of Rush is viewed as an upgrade over Johnson, providing the Ravens with a more experienced and reliable backup option. His consistent performance and ability to avoid costly mistakes are expected to be valuable assets to the team.
