Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy believes the Crimson Tide is well-positioned for a strong comeback in the 2025 season.
McElroy attributes Alabama’s potential resurgence to the wealth of returning talent under second-year head coach Kalen DeBoer. He also emphasized the team’s renewed leadership, strong locker room chemistry, and determination to reshape the program’s narrative.
“I look at what’s coming back, and a lot of it makes me very optimistic about Alabama,” McElroy said. “Several players who could have left for the NFL chose to return, which is significant. You also hear from the locker room that the leadership within the team is solid. They’re united and eager to redefine what Alabama is capable of.”
He also highlighted key returning players, a promising offensive line, and a defense that should be a major strength under second-year defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.
“They have some key returners like Ryan Williams,” McElroy noted. “The offensive line looks strong, but the defense is what most people are excited about. With nine returning starters—many of whom were underclassmen last season—continuity on that side of the ball is huge. The addition of Ryan Grubb on offense is also a big factor. The schedule is tough, but with their returning talent and defensive stability, Alabama is in a great position to have a major rebound in year two under Kalen DeBoer.”
As Alabama continues its preparations, the program remains focused on daily improvements ahead of the 2025 season.
